The Beyond
Every morning we take a nature walk around our 24 acres. We explore the trails in the woods, build dens and climb trees, listen to the frogs singing in the swamp, stomp in shallow creeks, pick strawberries, check on the chickens and gardens, & learn about all things wild!
Safety Note: Since we can be up to a 1/4 mile from home, we carry essential supplies with us. I carry a backpack with our "just in case" items: children's emergency contact information, a first aid kit, bug spray & sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and diapers/wipes. We travel with a wagon that can hold up to 3 children (in case someone gets tired). It also holds our water bottles and a travel potty with disposable bags for emergencies.
The Indoor Environment
Our indoor playschool space includes an entry room with individual coat cubbies, a bright, open play area with construction, music and small world toys, and an art and reading area.
To the right of the entry room is the play room, with dramatic play materials (kitchen, tool bench, doctor's kit, dress up etc.).
Everything in our environment is thoughtfully planned. I focus on simple open-ended toys that maximize creativity and representational thinking (an important pre-reading skill). Click here to read more about the benefits of play.
